Ebooks
take years to happen.
Many forces are at play.
Technology is the big enabler.
Costs of continuing with paper printing is a limiting factor. As the
cost of printing rises, the push to electronic books quickens.
Another thing that's happening,
In "the olden days" an exclusive club was the publishers
The cost of being in this club was high. A masters degree was
required. The writer had to be "blessed" by a publisher. The publisher
had to chop down trees to print the books, newspapers. Expensive inks
were purchased. Factory sized printing presses were needed. Etc etc.
Now? A kid in a slum can have an idea. His idea can be herd by the
world. No trees need be chopped down. He doesn't need to beg a
publisher.
He just needs acces to the Internet.
